Visitors arriving in Arizona from outside the United States must have proper passport and visa documentation. Travelers and foreigners who originate from a domestic destination can simply pass through border and airport checks. International passengers should check US customs requirements before traveling into Arizona (http://travel.state.gov/visa/).

Health and Safety

Arizona is a predominantly outdoor destination, so visitors need to take precautionary measures to stay safe. The mercury during summer months can reach extremely high temperatures, so staying hydrated is a must as is wearing sun protective clothing like long-sleeve shirts, wide-brimmed hats, and sunglasses. The desert landscapes can be dangerous, so take necessary precautions before heading out. Traveling with a guided tour is recommended. When driving along Arizona’s desert highways, be wary of dust storms and torrential downpours during the monsoon months of July, August, and September.

Crime in Arizona does occur, particularly in the capital city of Phoenix. Car theft is high in this area so folks renting a car are advised to always lock their doors and not to leave valuable items in sight. Petty theft and other minor crimes happen in other cities like Flagstaff and Tucson. Stay safe by being smart and always travel in groups after the sun goes down.
