In the heart of British Columbia surrounded on all sides by three gorgeous mountains, Sun Peaks is one of those rare ski resorts that truly has something for, well, everyone. Whether your ideal ski day is shredding the pow or apres for days, activities both on — and off — the slopes are sure to please. At the end of the day, the only thing you’ll regret is that you didn't stay longer.

Make First or Last Tracks

Three peaks dominate Sun Peaks (hence the name) with more than 12 lifts and 135 trails scattered between them all. Collectively, the mountains offer more than 4,000 skiable acres. While you may not be able to tackle every run during your stay, you can partake in an sunrise or sunset jaunt down the slopes. First Tracks Breakfast gives early risers exclusive access to the slopes followed by a warm breakfast for sustenance. Meanwhile, the night owls who choose the Fondue Dinner & Evening Descent are treated to a haute meal before strapping on a headlamp and their bindings for a guided run down the lantern-lit slopes.

Discover the Backcountry

While you can, of course, ski all the groomer terrain, Sun Hosts are also on hand to offer tours for any intermediate or advanced skiers who want to find the best bowls and tree runs. If you still wish to explore further, Sun Peaks’ certified guides and instructors have all the local insight into the best routes in Gil’s backcountry and can even offer up a few pointers on your technique! If you only have time to ski one mountain, the backcountry of Gil’s near the top of Tod Mountain promises amazing views and fresh powder.

Own the Adventure

At Sun Peaks, every day is good day for a new adventure. Visitors to the slopes are encouraged to take in as much as the region as possible. That’s why you’ll find Segway tours through the Alpine Village, guided snowshoe hikes, and snowmobile tours across the breathtaking Canadian backcountry. It’s enough to make anyone say, “When are we coming back?”
