Jackson-Evers International Airport

Mississippi’s largest airport in located about nine miles east of the capital of Jackson. Since it is situated in the center of the state, it’s a convenient way to get to all the towns along the Mississippi River's west and the northern region. Direct flights run daily to nine domestic destinations including Atlanta, Dallas, Chicago, Orlando, Houston, Charlotte, Memphis, and Washington DC. Five airlines operate these connections including American, Delta, United, Southwest, and US Airways.

Jackson International Airport has a single terminal with free Wi-Fi throughout most of the public areas. There are two sit-down restaurants serving a full menu and a Starbucks for coffee and beverages. Several shops sell gifts, reading material, travel sundries, and snacks on the second level. Most passengers use taxis limos for their transportation into Jackson, though there are a couple of shared airport shuttles that cost less. Renting a car is another popular option with six companies on site including Avis, Hertz and Enterprise. The airport is located right off Interstate 25 and is well-marked for easy driving into the capital or other destinations in the region.

Gulfport-Biloxi International Airport

Mississippi’s second-busiest airport is located just outside the city of Gulfport near the Gulf of Mexico. It provides convenient access to Gulfport, Biloxi and the many other beach towns strung out between them. Around a million passengers travel through the airport annually on American, Delta, United, Vision Airlines, and US Airways. The main route is to Atlanta followed by Houston, Dallas and Charlotte.

The pleasant little terminal offers free Wi-Fi throughout as well as computer work stations with internet access. There are three fast food restaurants on site along with a Caribou Coffee. Hudson News sells everything from reading materials to gifts and snacks. ATMs on site accept all major bank cards. Transportation is provided by public bus, taxis and limousines. Three area hotels offer courtesy shuttles for their guests, and there are five major car rental firms outside Baggage Claim including Avis and Budget. Driving from the airport is a breeze thanks to a single coastal highway and virtually no traffic.
