Nadi International Airport is the main gateway into Fiji. More than 80 percent of international travelers pass through this international airport. However, Suva Airport also caters for flights arriving from the surrounding Pacific region. Air Pacific is the main carrier flying into Fiji, but flights with other airlines are also available.

Nadi International Airport

Just six miles (10 kms) from the heart of Nadi, the city and Fiji’s main international airport welcomes more than 1.2 million passengers a year. Having started out as a strip for Allied war efforts in 1939, this facility became an important fuel stop for trans-Pacific legs. Most flights into Fiji are served by this airport, with Air Pacific handling the majority of routes.

There is only one terminal with international and domestic routes operating from the same building. Nadi International Airport serves dozens of Pacific destinations, including Los Angeles, Brisbane, Port Vila, Sydney, Auckland, Honiara, Port Moresby, and Hong Kong. Shops (both duty free and regular), restaurants, car rental, airport limousine, internet acess, and VIP lounges are some of the terminal services available for patrons.

Airport taxis are readily available in Fiji. Fares to the heart of Nadi are already cheap so negotiating generally won’t bring prices down any lower. Air-conditioned buses/coaches are also available from the terminal, many of which provide direct access to hotels and resorts around Nadi. It is also easy to arrange car rental as several major companies are found at the airport.

Nausori International Airport

Located just 14 miles (23 kms) from the capital of Fiji (Suva), Nausori International Airport is the second major airport for Fiji, even though it only serves a few hundred thousand passengers a year. Air Pacific, Pacific Sun, and Air Vanuatu operate flights here and the busiest routes are part of Fiji’s domestic air network to cities like Taveuni, Savusavu, and Nadi connecting to Nausori.

The terminal building is small, but manages to provide several restaurants in the Arrivals concourse, the Departures zone, and public area. Duty-free shopping and internet facilities are also provided at the airport. The easiest way to get from the facility to Suva is by taxi. Taxis wait outside the Arrivals exit and fares to the capital are affordable. Air-conditioned coaches are also available upon request.
