Taronga Zoo is one of Sydney, Australia’s top attractions. Located a short 12 minute ferryboat ride from Circular Quay near the Opera House, it is the perfect place to visit for people of all ages. The zoo is home to over 4,000 animals, hosts more than 20 keeper talks a day, has a high ropes adventure course for the death-defying, a twilight summer concert series, and has a variety of behind the scenes tours to get up close with the animals.

But by far, the coolest experience they offer is the “Roar & Snore,” the opportunity to spend the night camping at the zoo. Don’t worry, you won’t be cozying up next to the Tasmanian devil or crocodiles Hunger Games style, but sleeping with the koalas is pretty darn cool.

Prices range from $288-$320 per adult and $184-205 per child and include snacks, a buffet dinner, continental breakfast, and accommodations in glamping style tents that sleep up to four people with electricity, however, toilets and showers are separate and shared. One of the best parts of the tents is their location, set to a stunning backdrop the Sydney skyline, normally views only the giraffes are privy to.

Also included in your booking is a unique and personal experience with the animals. In the evening, enjoy an up close encounter after the zoo is closed to the public before embarking on a night safari to see the nocturnal animals at play. You’ll fall asleep to gorgeous views of the harbor, among the roars and squawks from the animals around you. In the morning, wake up before the zoo opens for two behind the scenes tours with the zookeepers as they prepare for the day and feed the animals. The Roar & Snore program ends at 9:30 a.m., however your ticket allows you to spend the rest of the day exploring at your leisure.

You only live once so why not take a walk on the wild side and spend the night at the zoo? Roar & Snore is great for all ages, but make sure you book your tickets well in advance from the Taronga Zoo website.
